Guy of Lusignan was a French noble who married Sibylla of Jerusalem, sister of Baldwin IV of Jerusalem and heir to the throne. The couple was coronated after Baldwin V of Jerusalem died. Guy led the Franks in the disastrous Battle of Hattin and later was a leader at the Siege of Acre. Richard the Lionheart later made him king of Cyprus and his family ruled over the island long after the rest of the Crusader kingdoms on the mainland had fallen to the Muslims.
